Why rugby?

Are you new to rugby and want the learn more about the sport and if it is the right sport for your a child? 

Rugby is the fastest growing youth sport in USA and is played by both boys and girls. Rugby 7s became an Olympic sport in 2016.  Rugby combines the best element of soccer and football. The rugby culture is truly unique and teaches children respect, commitment and sportsmanship. It is a  sport you can play all your life, including at college.

Our club!

The Coastal Dragons youth rugby club was started 2009 in Encinitas, California. The club is growing fast and now has  many hundreds of players and also alumni, who have gone on to play collegiate.

We field teams in every division currently available in SoCal with boys and girls from 5 to 18 years old.

Coastal Dragons is a feeder club to many local high-schools that have rugby programs, including La Costa Canyon HS and San Dieguito Academy, San Marcos HS, Torrey Pines and more.

Did you know you can try rugby before you commit at no cost? 

We offer rugby for boys and girls between 5 and 18 years old. There are two seasons per year for most divisions. ​For families in financial needs, we offer scholarships. Click below to learn more .
